🥽 🍿 WATCH: An ode to Xabi Alonso who had eyes in the back of his head

Remember Xabi Alonso? If you're a Liverpool and Premier League fan then of course you do.

The Spaniard was renowned for his vision, passing ability and occasionally spectacular goals from long range. However, he was also known for having eyes in the back of his head and locating teammates with ridiculously unlikely passes.

Alonso was the midfield maestro in a trio that also featured the varied talents of skipper Steven Gerrard and hard man Javier Mascherano. Both Alonso and Gerrard were on the score sheet in Liverpool's memorable Champions League success in 2005 against AC Milan in Istanbul.

Xabi Alonso won pretty much everything a player can win in their career. He won the World Cup and European Championships (twice) with Spain. At Liverpool, he won just about everything except for the Premier League, and he won the title in Germany with Bayern Munich and in Spain with Real Madrid.

What a player and what a career.
