🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ⚪️ 🏆 Does Gareth Bale deserve more respect from Real Madrid?

The Welsh wizard is widely expected to leave Real Madrid in the coming weeks or days after Zinedine Zidane's public statement on his future.

Bale has been integral to Real Madrid's recent  European dominance, scored decisive goals on the biggest stages and has also set a precedent for British players to excel abroad. However, his spell at the Bernabeu is coming to an end with Zinedine Zidane saying it would "be best for everyone" if the 30-year-old were to find a new club.

Real Madrid fans can be a demanding bunch, they've been known to even boo Cristiano Ronaldo in the past, but even they might miss Bale when he's gone. Let's have a look at his stellar record in the famous white jersey. Does it merit more respect?

🏆 Bale's glittering time at Real

Real Madrid hadn't won the Champions League since 2002 when they acquired Gareth Bale for a then-record figure of €105m from Tottenham in 2013. In the six years that followed, they won the trophy four times.

Remarkably, that means Bale has been involved in 30% of all of the club's European Cup successes. To compare him to other recent Real icons, he has won more Champions Leagues than Raul (three), current manager Zidane (one), Luis Figo (one) and Brazilian Ronaldo (zero).

His four European Cups with Real Madrid make him the competition's joint 12th most successful player - only former Real team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo (five) has won more Champions League trophies since the 1992 rebrand. Bale has also won one LaLiga title and one Copa del Rey, as well as three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and a Spanish Super Cup.

🥅 Impressive goal ratio

Bale has scored 102 goals in 231 games for Real and chipped in with 65 assists to boot. His minutes-per-goal record (163) beats Raul, whose 325 goals in 741 games took 184 minutes each.

Perhaps Bale's reputation and popularity with Real fans are tarnished because of the timing of his spell at the club, which coincided with the legendary stint of CR7, whose goal output of 450 goals and 131 assists in 438 games is a freakish, once in a lifetime statistic.

Only three players have ever scored more European Cup final goals than Bale's three - Real legends Alfredo di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas (seven each) and Cristiano Ronaldo (five).

🔮 Magic moments

Bale scored in two separate Champions League finals - including arguably the greatest European Cup final strike ever scored - and netted in a shootout in another. He appeared as a substitute in the 2017 Champions League final where he became the first player in history to score twice as a substitute in a European final.

Who can forget THAT strike to break Liverpool's hearts?

🤔 Where to next?

Bale's position at Real Madrid is most certainly untenable. His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has slammed Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, saying  "Zidane is a disgrace - he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid."

It remains to be seen where Bale ends up next season. There have been rumours that Real might try to use him as a makeweight in a possible deal to bring Neymar to the Bernabeu.

Either way, Gareth Bale's Real Madrid record speaks for itself.
