German Bundesliga 2 club FC St Pauli have officially signed Brighton & Hove Albion striker Viktor Gyokeres on a season-long loan deal.
Leo Ostigard who is currently playing for the club will welcome fellow teammate Gyokeres and inspire him to adapt to playing in Germany - with his deal set to expire on June 30, 2020.
The U23 head coach Simon Rusk (via West Sussex County Times) said: “This represents a brilliant opportunity for Viktor to continue his recent impressive development, which has seen him progress to the fringes of the first-team squad.
“He had a fine season with us in the U23s, but the challenge for him now is to gain some regular game time at senior level.
“It will be good to see him play alongside Leo (Ostigard), and I’m sure that he will take plenty from his experience out in Germany.”
Gyokeres was playing for Brighton's U23 team where he managed to score seven goals in 19 appearances respectively.
The 21-year-old made his maiden senior debut during the Carabao Cup game against Southampton in 2018 and was awarded four first-team appearances thereafter when the Brighton featured in the Emirates FA Cup.
The budding striker has been cap-tied twice for his native Sweden and has a goal under his belt when they played to a 2-2 draw against Iceland in January 2019.
