Southampton have reportedly joined the rapid race to sign Ruben Aguilar according to L’Equipe, via Get French Football News.
Premier League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace have been rumoured to be also interested in the Montpellier's services together with Monaco.
However, reports suggest that Djibril Sidibe could be on his way out of Monaco and that could be a plausible reason to show interest in Aguilar.
The 26-year-old's contract at Montpellier is set to run until 2020 which suggests that the side won't be able to get money on him in a year's time.
Aguilar previously played for Auxerre before joining Montpellier back in 2017.
