Boavista defender Goncalo Cardoso is reportedly on the verge of joining West Ham United in a £2.75million deal according to London Evening Standard reports.
West Ham are reportedly making Cardoso their main priority before the close of the summer transfer window with the player set to touch down in London on Monday, August 5.
The 18-year-old was part of Portugal's U19 team that played in the final of the European U19 Championship competition.
The budding youngster made approximately 15 appearances for Boavista's senior team in the Portuguese Primeira League and is set to provide help for Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena in the squad.
If the deal proves fruitful then Cardoso will be West Ham's fifth as the side looks to strengthen their defence to compete for honours in the Premier League.
West Ham will take on Manchester City on Saturday, August 10 in their season-opener and will be in hopes that Lukasz Fabianski and Mark Noble will be match-fit as they were both sustained injuries.
