Former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane is calling for Gavin Hunt to get his chance with the national side.
Following Stuart Baxter’s resignation last week, Mosimane has been marked as a frontrunner to take over, but the Sundowns man is ruling himself out in favour of Hunt and Benni McCarthy.
“I am doing Africa here. I am happy to be here,” Mosimane said to IOL.
“Benni, Steve (Komphela) and Gavin Hunt (are the local choices),” Mosimane said. “Gavin has been asking for a chance, and I think that we should also give him a chance.”
“We were there and couldn’t do what the country needed. Let us give Gavin a chance,” added the 2016 CAF Coach of the Year and current Coach of the Season.
Meanwhile, SAFA have confirmed they will announce the new coach by the end of this month.
