UEFA has on Thursday announced the names of the players shortlisted for the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League Player of the Season awards to be presented during the 2019/20 UEFA group stage draw.
Eden Hazard, Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic will go head-to-head for the title, with the winner announced on Friday 30 August in Monaco during the aforementioned draw.
Giroud was the tournament's top scorer with 11 goals and five assists in 14 matches, including the opener in the 4-1 win over Arsenal in the Baku final.
Hazard, on the other hand, was the standout player as Chelsea strolled to the finals, and won the man-of-the-match title in the final against Arsenal.
Jovic, who is currently Hazard's teammate at Real Madrid put in a good performance for Eintracht Frankfurt through the competition before his team eventually lost to Chelsea in the semifinals.
The Serbian chipped in with a further 10 goals in the 14 matches he played, which convinced Real Madrid to snap him up at the end of the campaign.
