Rwandese side ordered to pay former AFC Leopards boss

The Rwandese football federation (FERWAFA) has ordered Rwanda Premier League side Rayon Sports to pay former AFC Leopards manager Ivan Jacky Minnaert.

FERWAFA through their ‘conflict solving committee’ resolved that Rayon pays a total of $35000 in arrears owed to Minnaert this coming after the team sacked the coach in 2018 three months after signing a two-year contract.

Minnaert formerly with KPL side AFC Leopards was accused of undermining fitness coach Corneille Hakizimana with the Belgian, at the time suing the Blues but both parties reached an out of court settlement where they agreed to compensate him but Rayon Sports management only managed to pay half of that money.

After failing to pay the remainder of the money, Mineart through his lawyer Olivier Mulindahabi took the case to National football governing body which has now instructed the club to pay arrears plus additional fines.

Mineart who is also a former Mukura coach said he wanted to settle the matter out of court but Rayon Sports management left him with no option.

This is the second time that Rayon Sports is being accused of failing to pay their former coaches. In 2008, Raoul Shungu, Rayon Sports’ most successful coach sued the club for failing to pay his salary arrears this as reported by The Times of Rwanda.
