Zambia Women national team coach Beauty Mwamba believes women football in Zambia is moving in the right direction. Mwamba was speaking after watching her team succumb to a one-nil loss in the final of the 2019 COSAFA Women's Cup.
Mwamba was not disappointed despite the loss as she felt her players put in their best.
"Even if we lost that match but the girls put in their best. There was communication break down and loss of concentration but am proud of the girls, they put up a good performance and I think we are almost there, " she said.
"There is a lot of groundwork that is being done in Zambia. Women Football is improving. My team was very determined and had utilised our chances we could have scored. A silver medal still means a lot but going we will fight so that we can get Gold next time and if we meet Banyana Banyana again in the future it won't be easy for them," she added.
Zambia finished as runners up to South Africa winning their first-ever silver medals. Banyana Banyana, on the other hand, won their third title in a row and sixth overall.
