Kenya’s Harambee Starlets will take on their counterparts from Ethiopia in a friendly clash as the team gear for their Olympic Qualifier match against Malawi early in September.
A statement on the Football Kenya Federation website noted: “The Kenya Women National team, Harambee Starlets, is set to face Ethiopia in an International friendly match slated for Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
“This as the team gears up for their upcoming Olympics Qualifier against Malawi, whose first leg is set to be played on August 28, 2019, with the second leg slated for September 1, 2019, at the MISC Kasarani.”
The news comes at a time when the ladies have been camping in Nairobi after being given a bye in the first round.
Should they sail past Malawi, a sterner test against either of Gabon or Ghana awaits the David Ouma coached charges in the third round.
The qualifying tournament, which is in its fifth edition, will determine which team gains qualification to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan.
