Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has officially earned his first call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of a post-Africa Cup of Nations international friendly against Ukraine on September 10.
The former Charlton Athletic player who had an outstanding start to his career at Rangers was awarded the honour by head coach Gernot Rohr.
Aribo is a versatile player midfielder that can play as both offensive and defensive - in the process he has netted three goals in four games in the Europa League.
The London-born midfielder is not provisionally cap-tied to England and there was no need for the Nigerian Federation to apply for a change of association.
''I am very happy, it is a dream come true to receive the call-up,'' Aribo told All Nigeria Soccer.
''My agent was the first person to inform me that I was invited to the Super Eagles. I had spoken to one of the assistant coaches in the team before the invitation.''
Apart from Aribo, the other foreign-born players named in the latest Super Eagles squad are goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and defenders Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Tyronne Ebuehi, Ola Aina and Semi Ajayi.
