A star in the making - Wolverhampton Wanderers Academy graduate Morgan Gibbs-White netted his very first professional senior goal when his side handed FC Pyunik a 4-0 in the Europa League.
The England U21 international was assisted by Pedro Neto who was making his debut for Wolves and Gibbs-White found the back of the net to edge FC Pyunik.
The midfielder has been at the club for eleven years will now be in contention to make the starting XI when his side host Manchester United on Monday, August 19.
In an interview with the club's official website, Gibbs-White spoke exclusively about his career and his main highlights:
Scoring his first senior goal
“I’ve been waiting for too long! But I’m happy it’s here now and I’m happy the boys got the 4-0 win.
“My teammates have been dying for me to score. Every day they’re saying: ‘come on Morgan, when’s this goal coming?’ And luckily enough tonight I got the goal in front of the Molineux stadium crowd.”
Featuring on the world stage of the Europa League
“Playing teams from abroad is completely different to Premier League football, but fair play to Pyunik, they came out fighting, and it’s tough coming to an away team when you’re already 4-0 down.
“In the first half, they came out fighting, they were strong, but I think they got tired towards the second-half and I think we outplayed them.
“We can’t wait to go to Turin – a beautiful place in Italy – but yet again Torino will be another tough team, so the boys are going to have to keep fighting and show a good performance again.”
The performance of the debutants
“Pedro, Cutrone; they played fantastically. They came in, they’ve trained with us, they’ve taken the words off the gaffer and they’ve been playing well.”
On hosting Manchester United at Molineux
“It’s a massive game on Monday, and it’s good for us to put on a performance like this so we can take it on to Monday’s game.
“It’s a new season, everyone’s different and it’s a new start, but we can take some parts of last season into Monday. We go again and hopefully, we can put on a good performance.”
