Tyson Kapchanga bagged a hattrick as Kenya’s St. Anthony’s begun their East Africa School Games in emphatic fashion as they overcame Tanzania’s Lindi SS 4-0 in a game played on Friday 16 August.
Kapchanga opened the scoring in the ninth minute before doubling his sides lead in the 20th minute. A goal from Dan Odhiambo in the 34th minute ensured the Kitale based side went to the half time break with a three-goal lead.
Kapchanga was to complete his hattrick in the 70th minute as they sent a message of intent to the rest of the teams in the East Africa region.
With the clash being the only one played on Friday, the action continues on Saturday with three games lined up in different venues.
Uganda’s Buddo SS will be opening the day’s proceedings with a tie against Uganda’s Stahiza with another Uganda side Jinja SS taking Rwanda’s LDK. Tanzania’s Alliance High will close the day’s proceedings with a tie against their fellow countrymen Vwawa SS.
Another Kenya representative in the competition Dagoretti High School will be in action on Sunday when they open the day’s proceedings against Tanzania’s Ruwaiko with St Anthony’s returning back in action on Monday when they come up against Buddoi SS at 11 am.
