Athletic Club Bilbao shocked giants FC Barcelona 1-0 in a Laliga opener staged at San Mamés Barria on Friday 16 August.
With the visitors handing starting berths to Antonine Griezmann and youngster De Jong, they were the clear favourite to trouble the hosts.
But without Lionel Messi who was ruled out of the match, Barca was bound to fall short and it was no surprise when the hosts started on the front foot. In the fourth minute, a lovely weaving run from Williams left two Barcelona players chasing shadows but decided to pass the ball back when his teammates had made forward runs.
Despite the pressing, Barca was to hit the post in the 32nd minute through Luis Suarez after snapping up a terrible back pass by Lopez puts Suarez clear as the hosts escaped a scar; the first half ending with no one seeing the better of the other.
After a long wait for a goal to separate the duo, it was to finally come through a substitute. When the goal was to come, it arrived with style. Veteran Aduriz who had been on the pitch for less than a minute for Williams, rose and unleashed a sensational bicycle kick with the ball arrowing past Ter Stegen in a flash in what was a sensation goal.
