Ugandan striker Umaru Kasumba has set a golden boot target in his debut season in the Zambia Super League with Zesco United.
Kasumba joined Zesco on a free earlier this month after leaving Kenyan Premier League side Sofapaka FC and marked his debut with the Zambian giants with a goal in the CAF Champions League clash against Green Mamba.
Speaking to Football256, Kasumba said his move to Zesco is to help him grow to the next level and that through hard work and determination, he was going for the golden boot.
“I want to be the leading scorer in the Zambian premier league in my first season and I believe with my hard work and determination I can achieve it. The move to Zesco United was so good for me since it’s a big club with big ambitions which will help take my career to the next level,” Kasumba said.
Kasumba has been earlier nominated for the SJAK Most Valuable Player after netting 17 goals last season; goals that saw him emerge as the third-best scorer in the league.
The list was however trimmed to three with Francis Kahata who has since moved to Simba SC of Tanzania, Joash Onyango of Gor Mahia and Enosh Ochieng of Ulinzi Stars making the final list.
