Since joining Gor Mahia back in 2017, Joash Onyango has played under a number of coaches but reveals that he highly rates Ze Maria ahead of Dylan Kerr and Hassan Oktay.
The central defender has been under the tutelage of four different coaches at Gor Mahia in the name of Ze Maria, Dylan Kerr, Hassan Oktay and now Steven Polack. Joash joined K'Ogalo from Western Stima back in 2017 after previously turning out for West Kenya Sugar and has been a mainstay, impressing for both club and in National Team colors.
After signing him from Stima, Joash revealed Ze Maria is the best coach he has played under, "I will always give credit to Ze Maria for scouting me from Western Stima, he is the best coach I've played under, unfortunately I did not last long with him because Dylan Kerr came but he too was a good coach together with Hassan Oktay and his assistant Zedekiah Zico Otieno, I thank them all.
Joash has worked with four coaches in a span of two years and revealed the challenges of working with various coaches in short span, "Every coach comes with is own philosophy but as a player, you have to adapt quickly in order to perform better and you also have to be simple in understanding so that you get a better view of the coach's tactics on the field."
Joash will be hoping to be at the top of his game when Gor Mahia take on Aigle Noir on Sunday 25th August in a 4 PM kick-off at the MISC Kasarani.
