Ghana international striker Caleb Ekuban scored his first career hat-trick for Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor as they went to win 3-1 over Greece's AEK Athens in the Europa League playoff on Thursday night.
Ekuban's three goals has given Trabzonspor the advantage as they go into second leg match at home.
The 25-year-old found the back of the net in 29th, 44th and 70th minute and the opponents' Livaja scored the AEK Athen's lone goal in the 4th minute - respectively.
Trabzonspor qualified for the playoffs upon eliminating Czech side Sparta Prague while AEK secured their victory over Romania's Universitatea Craiova to advance to the next round.
The second leg is set to be played in Trabzon, Turkey on August 29.
