Chelsea manager Frank Lampard singled out Matteo Kovacic for praise, following his impressive game against Norwich on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues and Lampard picked their first win of the season in a 3-2 thrilling encounter at Carrow Road, with three goals scored in the opening 17 minutes.
A brace from Tammy Abraham and a goal from Mason Mount gave the Blues the victory, after a difficult start to the season which saw them lose the opening match to Manchester United before drawing against Leicester at home.
The performances of Abraham and Mount, in particular, caught the attention of many, but it was Kovacic who caught the eye of his manager following a near-perfect performance in the middle of the park.
The Croat was called into the starting lineup following N'Golo Kante's absence, who missed out after picking a knock from the Leicester match.
"He has been working well, and his quality to drive past players and take them out of the game...I think he can do more on the other half of the pitch," he said after the match.
Lampard further revealed the injury Pedro Rodriguez suffered before the Norwich match was not major, and he was optimistic he will be back after the international break.
Others expected to back then include Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi. R
