Leicester City assistant coach Chris Davies has said Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has no particular issue as he is doing well in training.
Iheanacho, who is regarded as Jamie Vardy’s back-up, is yet to make an appearance for the Foxes this season despite scoring for the side in pre-season.
But Davies said the 22-year-old is working well in training and there are no issues.
“[There is] No reason. We try and balance the bench the best we can. Kel has been working well in training, there are no issues at all,” Davies told Leicestermercury.co.uk when asked about Iheanacho’s failure to make the matchday squad in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win against Newcastle United.
“It’s just a case of recently, we have had Demarai Gray on the bench instead of Kel.
“He [Gray] is a multi-functional attacking player who can play out wide and up front.
“We also have Ayoze [Perez] who can play up front, so we just felt the balance that we have, it was better to stick with what we did on the weekend.”
