With a move to Parma imminent, Matteo Darmian has revealed he is leaving Manchester United to increase his chances of making it back into the Italy National Team.
Darmian joined United back in 2015 under Louis van Gaal from Torino in a deal believed to be in the region of £12.7 million. The 29-year-old is on the verge of joining Serie A side Parma in a deal worth €1.5million having not featured for United at all at the beginning of this season.
Speaking after landing in Italy to complete his move, Darmian revealed his reason for leaving United, "I’m happy to be back home, it’s an important opportunity. It’s certainly an important opportunity to get back into the Italy team."
The former Torino man will come up against Lukaku and Sanchez when Parma travel to Inter Milan at the end of October and he tipped the duo to shine in the Serie A, "They are strong players and I wish them all the best. I’m sure they will have a great season."
