Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has said the arrival of Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park has made the club a better team.
Iwobi joined Everton from Arsenal on transfer deadline day for a fee worth £40m and has scored two goals in three appearances for Marco Silva’s side.
“Everton have a chance too if they can get themselves going,” Merson told the Daily Star.
“Getting beaten by Villa was a blessing in disguise. I think it woke a few players up.
“Marco Silva changed his team after that and it’s starting to click. They’re a better team now with Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean. Both have to play. If he sticks with it they won’t be miles away."
Iwobi is already in Super Eagles camp for the international friendly match between Nigeria and Ukraine on Tuesday.
