Footballbal Association of Zambia President Andrew Kamanga was full of praise for the Zambia U23 national team following their qualification to the 2019 Egypt U23 AFCON tournament.
Kamanga led the Secretariat staff in welcoming the 'Bola na Lesa' Boys in the early hours of today. Kamanga who is aware of the challenge that lies ahead is confident with proper preparations, Zambia will do just great.
"On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Football Association of Zambia and special thanks goes to the technical bench for the job well done and you the team for being resilient," he said.
"We would like to congratulate you for the job well done and I think t entire country was behind you. We would like to just encourage you and within the next few weeks, we will be assembling the team. We will organize with the technical bench and give you a detailed program for the preparations."
" What is important is that we are in the tournament. It won't be easy because all the teams are competitive but they are the same teams we played at U20, two years so we I don't think we should worry too much as long we prepare adequately we will get the result that we want. Mine is to just thank you and wish you well," he added.
Zambia fought back to hold the hosts, Congo Brazzaville to a 3-3 draw to qualify 5-4 on aggregate after having won 2-1 at home.
Zambia will join host Egypt, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and South Africa for the final tournament scheduled for 8-22 November in Cairo, where the top three finishers will qualify to represent Africa at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
