In this series of Futaa editorial, we've dug deeper to examine just how good the France squad is at the moment.
Before we looked at the strongest possible France XI and now we look at the "best of the rest", just highlighting the squad depth at Didier Deschamps' disposal.
🧮 France "C" team (4-2-3-1)
This "C" team is incredibly strong and it includes four World Cup winners from 2018, namely Moussa Sissoko, Presnel Kimpembe, Blaise Matuidi and Florian Thauvin.
There wasn't even space in any of our three starting XIs for Adil Rami, Dimitri Payet, Real Madrid's new left-back Ferland Mendy or another left-back, the perennially-injured Man City man and his namesake Benjamin Mendy. As for Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid man has been in exile from the squad for as long as we can remember, and he doesn't even get considered.
Arsenal fan-favourite Alex Lacazette made his last appearance in an Arsenal jersey in 2017, but if he keeps his Gunners form up it will be hard for Deschamps to keep excluding him. The same can be said for the red-hot man United man Anthony Martial.
Not to mention up-and-coming Lille star Nanitamo Ikone, experienced goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and Galatasaray man Steven Nzonzi.
