Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic believes that youngsters at the club will play a significant role in the first-team squad for the rest of the season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Daniel James, and Marcus Rashford all of who are under 23, started in the 1-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday. Four of the seven players on the bench were 21 years or below with three of them being teenagers. Axel Tuanzebe, 21, and Tahith Chong, 19, came off the bench in the 1-0 win.
Matic tipped the United youngsters who play a crucial role this season, "It doesn't matter if they are 18 or 25 or 35 we can see who is ready and who is not and who will be important for the future. I am happy for them. I like to see young players on the pitch and hopefully, they can bring us some fresh energy for the rest of the season.
"I don’t believe in age, good players or bad players. It doesn’t matter if you are 18 or 35, so I think who played today deserved to play."
