Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are on the brink of the CAF Champions League group stages.
Yesterday saw the Porcupine Warriors display some pedigree one needs in to challenge Africa's elite. Kotoko grabbed a 2-0 win over Tunisian heavyweights and 2007 CAFCL champions Etoile du Sahel. With the job half done, Kotoko still have more work. The second leg trip to Sousse is coming.
New boy Augustine Okrah needed just three minutes to open the lead. Okrah struck a well-taken free-kick just outside the box, before Kotoko’s second goal on 55 minutes. Thanks to Arthur’s predatory finish.
Watch the action below:
The return leg is for 27 September, with the venue most likely to be the 47-year-old and 28 000 capacity Stade Olympique de Sousse.
Will the Ghanaian hold their nerve to avoid a 3-0 defeat or will Sahel prove just why they're ever present in the tournament's latter stages?
