The Champions League is back and we've got all you need to know to make some bets on the action.
Club Brugge vs Galatasaray
Brugge has lost just two of their seven prior meetings with Turkish opposition in Europe, and both of those defeats came away from home. Galatasaray has failed to score in each of their last four Champions League away fixtures and they aren’t likely to get a positive result here.
Olympiakos vs Spurs
Olympiacos is a side high on confidence, having lost just two of their previous 28 league fixtures, won three in a row “to nil” this season and winning 13 in a row with eight clean sheets in that sequence. Four of Tottenham’s five matches in the Premier League this season have featured at least four goals, so we could be in for some entertainment here.
Dinamo Zagreb vs Atalanta
It’s a historic moment for Atalanta, who play their first-ever match in the Champions League here against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb. The last time the hosts failed to score at home was in December 2018, and with both sides scoring in all three of Atalanta’s Serie A matches this season, goals should be on the menu and the Italian side might be eyeing out a historic win.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Man City
Manchester City must recover quickly from their shock defeat at the hands of Premier League new boys Norwich City. Shakhtar will be sick of the sight of Pep Guardiola’s side, who they now face in a third consecutive group stage. City won the two clashes last season with a 9-0 aggregate and although Shakhtar has won seven consecutive league matches and scored an average of 3.29 goals per game in that sequence, this is a significant step up in quality.
Bayern Munich vs Red Star Belgrade
Bayern begins their twelfth consecutive season in the group stages of the Champions League. They’ve won 14 of their last 15 home matches in the group stages and scored 47 goals in that sequence, at an average of 3.13 goals per game and kept ten clean sheets. Red Star has started their domestic season with a 100% record, but they’ve not kept a clean sheet in six games. They’re in for a tricky night in Bavaria here.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Lokomotiv Moscow
Four of Leverkusen’s previous five matches have all produced over 3.5 total goals. They’ve only lost one of their last nine home matches in the Champions League and six of those featured over 2.5 goals. Lokomotiv has lost seven of their eight meetings with German opposition in European competition and that run should continue here.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid
One of the standout ties of the Champions League group stages sees big-spenders PSG face up to Real Madrid, the most successful side in the tournament’s history. PSG kept hold of superstar Neymar after he flirted with a move back to Barcelona, and they’ll be determined to go further than the round of 16 this season. Real Madrid crashed out of this tournament to Ajax to mark the end of their era of dominance. Both sides have scored in all of Real Madrid’s four LaLiga matches this season, and we cannot see either side keeping a clean sheet here.
Atlético Madrid vs Juventus
Portugal’s future star João Félix faces up to Portugal captain and legend Cristiano Ronaldo here as two pre-tournament favourites clash in the Champions League. Atlético lost on the weekend which ended their 100% record this season and the same can be said for Juventus, who drew 0-0 with Fiorentina. We expect a tight clash here between two defensively solid sides.
