Asante Kotoko’s Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei has withdrawn from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential race.
Dr. Kyei’s decision follows after last month’s announcement that he would contest. That was until yesterday’s confirmation that the Kotoko boss has withdrawn.
"The president of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Prof. Kwame Kyei has decided not to contest in the FA presidential race again,” his assistant Nana Coker Gyimbibi told KickGH.
Gyimbibi added that the decision is based on personal reasons, including the need to channel more focus on Asante Kotoko affairs.
"This according to him claims the reason not to continue to star in the race is personal. He also believes for now, Kotoko should get his entire focus so he would be able to build a team capable of annexing more envious trophies.”
"He would want to thank all who believed in him."
Meanwhile, the new GFA President is set to be elected on 27 October 2019.
