KPL Preview: Will Gor Mahia break their four-year duck against KCB?

KPL Round Three takes centre stage this weekend with Gor Mahia taking on KCB, Wazito hosting AFC Leopards and former champions Mathare United locking horns with Ulinzi Stars.

Gor Mahia vs KCB

After picking up four points from a possible six against Gor Mahia last season, KCB will be looking to extend their unbeaten run against the reigning champions that dates back to August 2015.

K'Ogalo whitewashed KCB 6-1 in their last win against the Bankers with Meddie Kagere bagging a brace and Michael Olunga on the score sheet.

Former Gor Mahia head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno will be up against his former side alongside Pascal Ogewno who followed Zico to KCB in the offseason transfer window.

Steven Pollack's side will be looking to make amends after their 4-1 humbling at the hands of USM Alger while KCB will be seeking to extend their unbeaten run of the season.

Wazito vs AFC Leopards

Wazito host Leopards at Ingwe's own backyard with a lot of hype surrounding the game as the KPL newbies have set up events in the build-up to the game to drive fans into Bukhungu Stadium.

Life in the league has not been smooth sailing for Wazito after storming through the National Super League as they are without a win after draws against Western Stima and Nzoia Sugar.

AFC Leopards woes in the league show no signs of halting soon as they are currently winless and have a single point so far.

Ismalia Diarra looked lost in the striking department but seem have have got it right with the recruitment of Benjamin Ochan in goal and Austin Ochieng who was promoted from the Youth Team, judging from their last game against Sharks.

Mathare United vs Ulinzi Stars

Only the two sides alongside Tusker and Sofapaka have won a league title since 2008 but a miracle would have to happen for either of Ulinzi or Mathare to bag another league crown.

Mathare have an awful record against Ulinzi with their last win coming back in 2016 but a couple of draws have been registered between the two sides.

Elvis Nandwa will be up against his former side after joining Ulinzi back in 2013. Mathare are unbeaten in the last seven games but have only won two matches in the process. A draw is the most probable outcome of this tie with the last four out of five matches ending in a stalemate.

Zoo vs Tusker

When Mike Madoya made the switch from Zoo FC to Tusker many expected him to fit into the team like a hand to a glove but he has struggled to break into the first 11 on a number of games.

He will be preparing for a return to Kericho and will be hoping to be on the pitch where he once terrorized and notched a couple of goals that propelled him to the KPL Most Valuable Player in 2017.

Tusker have not enjoyed great success in Kericho with last season being the first time they won away to Zoo in the KPL. It will be interesting to see if Boniface Muchiri will make the starting 11 after missing out on the matchday squad against Mathare last weekend.
