Gor Mahia players have downed tools ahead of their Kenyan Premier League week three tie against KCB FC slated for Kenyatta Stadium-Machakos on Sunday 22 September.
According to the club treasurer Ms Sally Bolo, the players arrived in training on Friday as expected but said they were not going to honour the game the weekend unless they are paid their August dues.
“It's true they have downed tools ahead of the game. We had a meeting with them today at the training ground but they said they were not going to honour the weekend game.
“We have not paid their August salaries because of the financial situation of the club but we are working all round to sort them. Its been difficult for us as a club but we must eventually pay them,” Bolo told Futaa.
Gor was slated to face Chemelil Sugar at the Kericho Green Stadium on Thursday 19 September in a rescheduled league fixture but KPL cancelled the game at the eleventh hour with claims stating that hosts Chemelil had not communicated in time while changing the venue.
The game against KCB FC over the weekend will be their first since falling to USM Algers in Algeria in the CAF Champions League last weekend.
