Bournemouth shocked Southampton at St. Mary's on Friday 20 September after emerging 3-1 winners in the first game of the English Premier League in week six.
Visitors Bournemouth were to take the lead in the tenth minute through defender Nathaniel Ake. Rico’s inswinging corner from the right was met with a superb downward header from Ake on the six-yard line.
The Eddie Howe side thought they had doubled their lead in the 25th minute when Joshua King found the back of the net after some superb work from Solanke but replays showed Norwegian was just offside prior to the goal.
Their second goal was to however come in the 37th minute through Harry Wilson. Rico fizzed a pass out to Callum Wilson on the left. He played in the underlapping Billing and charged into the area for the return. Billing pulled it back towards Wilson who steered a precise first-time shot into the far corner as they raced to a 2-0 lead at half time.
Southampton was not going to give up in front of their home fans and pulled a goal back through a penalty in the 56th minute by Ward-Prowse.
With the pressure, the home side was to shoot themselves with Callum Wilson walking the ball into the net after a hideous mix-up between Bednarek and Gunn
