Aguero breaks Rooney's record

Sergio Aguero have broken a record jointly held by Wayne Rooney and Jose Antonio Reyes.

Aguero converted a penalty on Saturday after Ben Foster fouled Riyad Mahrez to make it eight goals in six matches, scoring in every game of 2019/20 so far.

Manchester City went on to devour Watford 8-0 with Bernardo Silva scoring a hat-trick.

No player has registered in each of the opening six games of a Premier League campaign before, with Wayne Rooney and Jose Antonio Reyes sharing the previous best.

Rooney scored nine in five matches for Manchester United including two hat-tricks - versus Arsenal and Bolton in 2011.

And former Arsenal hero Reyes, who tragically died in a car accident in the summer, scored a single goal past each of Everton, Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Norwich and Fulham in 2004/05.

Notably for Aguero however is the fact that neither Rooney nor Reyes won the title having started the season so impressively.
