CECAFA: Four Goals for Lokale as Kenya hammer Zanzibar

Kariobangi Sharks striker Sydney Lokale scored four goals as Kenya hammered Zanzibar 5-1 in their CECAFA U20 opener staged at Njeru-Uganda on Sunday 22 September.

Zanzibar’s naivety in the game was evident from the earlier stages as they were forced to make a 25th-minute substitution where Yusuf Hassan was withdrawn from Abubaker Zaid but that didn’t stop Kenya from troubling their rearguard.

Sydney Lokale was to put Kenya into the lead on the 32nd minute from the penalty spot before doubling his and the teams’ tally six minutes later for a 2-0 score at half time.

Coach Stanley Okumbi was to withdraw Collins Njuguna for Austin Odhiambo in the 56th minute but it was the Sharks striker again in the 71st minute when he converted from the spot for his hat-trick with Kenya, on the 75th minute, withdrawing Patrick Otieno for Steven Otieno.

Lokale was to add a fourth ten minutes from time as Austin placed his name on the scoresheet seven minutes from time.
