CECAFA U20: Tanzania comes from behind twice to hold Kenya

Kenya U20 National team was held to a 2-2 draw by Tanzania in CECAFA U20 Championships match staged at the FUFA Technical Centre in Jinja, Uganda on Tuesday 24th. 

Kenya twice gave away the lead as Tanzania fought back to claim a point. Stars took the lead through Austin Odhiambo in the 26th minute before Tanzania got back to level terms 10 minutes later through Albert Simchimba. Kenya once again restored their one-goal lead through Patrick Otieno eight minutes after the restart of the second half. 

However, Kenya defence conceded the second goal after just three minutes thanks to Abdul Hamis’ strike. The draw left the pair with four points with each side having one foot into the quarterfinals. 

Next assignment

Kenya will be up against Ethiopia in the final Group B match while their neighbors Tanzania will entertain Zanzibar in the Taifa Derby. The match will determine the group winner with both sides currently level on everything.
