COSAFA Women's U17: Zambia book semifinal slot after bashing hosts Mauritius 8-0

Zambia U17 Women national team have booked their place in the semifinals of the inaugural COSAFA U17 Women's Championships following an 8-0 humiliation of the hosts Mauritius.

The young Copper Queens came into the match as favorites following their 15-0 bashing of the Comoros Islands. Florence Kasonde put Zambia in the lead with a beautiful strike barely seven minutes into the match. Tisilile Lungu doubled the lead in the 25th minute before Chilenga Maweta could add a third with a brilliant long-range strike and Cindy Banda made it four-nil a minute from halftime.

Kasonde scored a brace in the second half to make it 6-0 completing her hat-trick and taking her tally to 7 goals for the tournament. Comfort Selemani came from the bench to score two quick goals and make it 8-0 completing another emphatic win for coach Kaluba Kangwa and his girls.

Zambia finish as runners up to Uganda who humiliated group A weeping girls Comoros 20-0 . The young Copper Queens will face the winners of group B in the semifinals.
