Manchester United have received a major boost ahead of their English Premier League clash with Arsenal on Monday night, with several first-team players expected to return.
Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood both completed 90 minutes during Wednesday night’s win over Rochdale in the Carabao Cup, having shaken off an injury and illness respectively.
The Norwegian further revealed Marcus Rashford may not be absent for as long as first feared after he was withdrawn during their match against West Ham over the weekend.
“Marcus, no he’s recovering. He’s not very, very bad. We hope to see him before the international break,” said Ole in his pre-match interview with MUTV.
Solskjaer is yet to give an update on Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, who haven’t played since facing Crystal Palace on 24 August.
Diogo Dalot and midfielder Angel Gomes have been ruled out of the Monday clash, having missed the Carabao tie.
“They’re injured,” Ole said. “They weren’t fit to train the last couple of days, unfortunately. Hopefully, they can be back for Alkmaar next week,"
Eric Bailly and Tim Fosu-Mensah remain long-term absentees for the Reds, with the Ivory Coast international expected to be out until at least December.
United will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat away to West Ham when they entertain Unai Emery's side.
