Tyrone Mings England debut comes at a cost to Aston Villa

English Premier League side Aston Villa will have to fork more money for Bournemouth after defender Tyrone Mings made his England debut on Monday night.

Villa will pay an extra £250,000 to Bournemouth having agreed a £21 million deal to sign Mings in July and inserted a clause that triggers further installments if the defender was to ever play at the international level.

The Telegraph understands that Villa will pay £250,000 for each of his first four England appearances, taking the total amount up to £1 million on top of the £21 million fees. The total deal could eventually come to £26 million on appearances at the club level, which will be a transfer record for Villa.

Impressive Debut

Mings impressed on his debut by keeping a clean sheet in England's 6-0 thrashing of Bulgaria on Monday night but the game wasn’t a good one for him off the pitch as he and other black players received racist chants from the home fans.

Mings will hope that his impressive debut is replicated when his side takes on Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend in the Premier League.
