Real Madrid joins race for Chukwueze as replacement for Bale

Real Madrid have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal as they search for a replacement for Gareth Bale.

Bale would have exited Real Madrid in the summer but a move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning fell through at the last minute in the summer transfer window.

He has also been linked with a return to the English Premier League as Manchester United appear to be his destination.

As a result, the Spanish transfer market website Fichajes has claimed that Los Blancos are combing the market for a winger and Chukwueze has emerged as a low-cost alternative to replace Bale.

It has been suggested that Villarreal are resigned to losing Chukwueze at the end of the 2019-2020 season, with a host of clubs, including Barcelona, keen to sign the winger.
