🔴🤔 Which two players have represented both Man United & Liverpool in the Premier League era?

It seems almost unthinkable that a player would be able to live with themselves after moving from Man United to Liverpool or vice versa, but two players have done exactly that in recent times.

Which players have played for English football's two most successful clubs in history where the rivalry runs deepest?

🥅 Michael Owen

Liverpool: 1996-2004 (297 apps, 158 goals)
Man United: 2009-2011 (49 apps, 17 goals)

As a youngster, Michael Owen devastated defenders in England and around Europe with his pace and finishing ability, and he earned a move to Real Madrid in 2004.

A bad knee injury at the 2006 World Cup meant that he would never hit those same heights again.

Owen joined Manchester United on a free transfer from Newcastle in 2009. He was mainly a super sub at Old Trafford with his best moment at the club undoubtedly being a dramatic 96th-minute winner in a Manchester derby in 2009, United won 4-3 that day.

🤺 Paul Ince

Man United: 1989 - 1995 (277 apps, 28 goals)
Liverpool: 1997 - 1999 (81 apps, 17 goals)

The combative, uncompromising midfield man enjoyed the best years of his career at Manchester United under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson. He was a key figure in the first-ever Premier League season, and he won a domestic double in 1993/1994.

Ince was sold in 1995 as a new crop of midfielders rose to prominence at Old Trafford, and he enjoyed two years in the Serie A with Inter Milan. He was back in England in 1997 with United's fierce rivals Liverpool. His stint there coincided with one of Liverpool's poorest eras in modern times, and he made a move to Middlesbrough in 1999.

It's been a while since a player crossed the great divide and we might have to wait a long, long time before it happens again.
