Ancelotti believes win over Salzburg could be the turning point

Napoli head coach Carlo Ancelotti believes his team's 3-2 win over Redbull Salzburg in a UEFA Champions League clash could be the turning point for his side.

The former Real Madrid boss expressed happiness with the team spirit showed by his players. Ancelotti said he expected that kind of performance from his players.

“Tonight could be a turning point for us,” he said.

“I'm happy for lots of reasons tonight but above all, for the team spirit, we showed. I was expecting that sort of performance from the team – displaying not just skill but character too.

“We got off to an excellent start, then had a few lulls in the first half after we scored but everyone stayed focused.

Salzburg is an excellent side and what pleased me was the fact we were able to match them and impose our game at a ground like this, where they haven't been beaten in years."

The Italian giants handed Salzburg their first loss in competitive football for over two years beating them 3-2 at the Redbull Arena thanks to a Dries Mertens brace and Lorenzo Insigne winner to stay top of their group.
