English Premier League side Chelsea FC has received a timely boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Ajax.
Chelsea confirmed that the trio of N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, and Andreas Christensen joined the rest in Monday training.
The statement on the club’s website noted: “There was good news for the Blues this morning as N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, and Andreas Christensen took part in the final training session before tomorrow’s match against Ajax.
Manager Frank Lampard had a possibility of featuring against Ajax prior to their weekend win against Watford and the return of the Frenchman is a boost for the Englishman as they gear to compete in the competitions they are in.
England midfielder Barkley limped off against Newcastle in the first game after the October international break and hasn’t featured since.
“I’m quite big that the players come back into training at the level that they left so they’re then ready to play games because they can’t just walk straight back in after injuries. There has to be some progression,” Lampard said.
Despite the return of the trio, the club confirmed that defender Toni Rudiger is seeing a consultant on Monday and was not involved in training.
The London based side will be up against Ajax at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday as they seek to qualify to the knockout stage of the competition.
