After his tackle led to Andre Gomes breaking his ankle, Heung-Min Son issued an apology to Everton midfielder during his goal celebration in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade.
Son looked distraught after the tackle and was consoled by Everton players in the Spurs dressing room after the game but showed class by dedicating his celebration to Gomes.
The South Korean bowed his head and put his hands together in a praying gesture during his celebration after scoring his side’s second goal of the game.
In an interview with BT Sport, Son revealed that the injury affected him, "Of course, it was a really tough few days, with my teammates I realised how lucky I am. Everyone gave me strong messages. I’m really, really sorry about this accident and this situation.
"Of course, I have to focus for the team as well but I wanted to respect. I have to keep going, keep working hard and I think this is my right answer to the people who support me."
