Kenyan Premier League Round Nine serves up some tantalizing ties with Gor Mahia facing AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby and high flying KCB coming up against table-toppers Tusker.
Gor vs Leopards
The first Mashemeji Derby of the season will be played on Sunday 10th November at the MISC Kasarani with this being the first encounter in a while that Leopards come with a proper chance of winning. The last time Ingwe managed to bag bragging rights was back in 2016 when Lamine Diallo scored a lone goal to claw Gor.
Steven Polack will have his first taste of the Mashemeji Derby and a loss could pile pressure on his job after failing to guide the team to the CAF Confederations Cup group stages while Andre Cassa Mbungo will be looking to his first taste of a Derby win after losing his first two.
Gor Mahia have dominated this fixture in recent times winning the last five while Leopards have only won once in the last 13 clashes. Ingwe will be presented with a chance of equaling Gor's 28 wins in the Mashemeji Derby on their 86th meeting.
Sofapaka vs Wazito
Two foreign coaches will go head to head when Sofapaka host Wazito at the Narok County Stadium on Sunday as they come in with contrasting forms. Dilvaldo Alves halted a run of two straight defeats by coming from behind to draw Kakamega Homeboyz but with two wins all season it does not make proper reading for the Portuguese.
Melis Medo has steadied the ship at Wazito but conceding three goals against Sony who had scored just four goals before the match would trouble the American as they have now scored 11 and conceded the same amount of goals.
Elvis Rupia seems to have found the form that earned him a move to Zambian outfit Power Dynamos after bagging the league's first hat-trick against Sony.
Ulinzi vs Bandari
Ulinzi stars have managed to find some form this season losing only once and have the best defensive record alongside AFC Leopards after conceding just three goals. The Soldiers have forgotten how to concede after going four games without letting in a goal.
Bandari seem to be suffering from post-Confederations Cup hangover as they have struggled immediately after their continental assignments, losing out in a mid-week fixture against Western Stima. Their situation has not been eased with reports that Young Africans (Yanga) are seeking Bernard Mwalala's services to replace under-fire Mwinyi Zahera.
KCB vs Tusker
KCB seem to be enjoying their second season in the KPL as they currently sit fourth on the log, two points behind table-toppers Tusker. Zedekiah Zico Otieno has instilled the winning mentality he acquired at Gor Mahia with the team now on a four-game unbeaten streak.
Tusker have an impeccable record against KCB having lost just once in their last 16 head to head meetings but will face a different Bankers side on Saturday. Tusker have the best attack in the league having scored 16 goals with their attack propelling them to the summit of the table.
