Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has offered an explanation to Eden Hazard's struggles at Real Madrid, following his summer move from Chelsea.
The Belgian was, for seven seasons, the star of the show at Stamford Bridge but has struggled to replicate the form at his new home.
Wenger believes the attacker is less in confidence, and his injury struggles and weight issues have only made it worse for him.
"I feel we have not seen the Hazard we’ve known in England yet," Wenger told beIN Sports. "He was not physically fit after he was injured,"
"Is he a little bit… he’s not a player usually impressed by anything, but he looked to me like he does not have the same confidence he had at Chelsea,"
"But I think it was more down to physical reasons. He came too heavy like we read in the papers. If you want to make a horse lose a race, putting two kilos on a horse of 500 kilos is enough,"
Hazard has only managed a single goal and an assist since moving to the Spanish capital, a return that is not good enough.
He has been criticized during matches and seems far from the player he was at Chelsea last season.
Coach Zinedine Zidane has urged the fans to be a little patient with him, saying he believes he will come good.
