Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes N'Golo Kante's playing style is totally different from that of Jorginho and one cannot be a replacement of the other.
Kante has made a fully recovery following a troubled start to the campaign due to niggling injuries and is set to feature for The Blues in their English Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.
Jorginho is suspended for the match, and as such, Kante's availability offers Lampard and company the much-needed boost ahead of the London Derby.
Speaking ahead of the tie, however, Lampard moved to underline the difference in the two midfield maestros' playing style, adding that Kante cannot directly replace Jorginho.
"Jorginho and N’Golo have different qualities, that’s clear to see, but when we set up the midfield it won’t just be a like for like in terms of those two. It will be how we set up as a unit rather than the individual replacement," he said.
The Italian has been a revelation for the Blues in the middle of the park, forming a formidable partnership with Croat Mateo Kovacic.
He has played all Premier League matches, and the statistics rank him among the League's best this campaign.
The former Napoli man loves playing in a deeper role in midfield as it complements well the excellent passing range skill that he possesses, which allows him to dictate the tempo.
He has the ability to find players with incisive precision and his long passes from deep in midfield set him above the rest.
Kante, on the other hand, is a true defensive midfielder who loves tackling and is always bursting with energy throughout the pitch.
Lampard has indicated he will have to find a balance in Jorginho's absence but is content with the options he has.
