The Ugandan Cranes and the Stallions of Burkina Faso played out to a goalless draw in their opening match of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
The match was coach Jonathan McKinstry's second competitive match since being named as Cranes boss. His first game was a slim 1-0 victory in the international friendly match over Ethiopia last month.
The Stallions dominated the early exchanges but the Cranes captain Dennis Onyango made sure the match remained level at 0-0. Joseph Ochaya had to clear a goal-bound ball in the opening stages to deny the hosts and making sure the first half ended 0-0.
The Cranes first real chance came minutes into the second half, Emmanuel Okwi met a Farouk Miya corner with a beautiful header which ricocheted off the crossbar.
In the end, neither side could find the back of the net and the match ended goalless to gift each side a point each.
Next on the cards for the Cranes is a clash against Malawi at the Mandela National Stadium in Kira while the Stallions travel to Khartoum to face South Sudan.
