Lebogang Phiri is Bafana Bafana’s man of the moment. The nippy number 6 capped his superb performance against Sudan with a lovely goal in Sunday's AFCON 2021 qualifier against Sudan in Johannesburg.
Phiri, who plays his football in central midfield for France’s EA Guingamp, helped Bafana to a 1-0 win over Sudan in a Group C AFCON 2021 Qualifier. The win became the ideal response after Molefi Ntseki’s side lost 2-0 to Ghana on matchday one.
Phiri, making his first ever start in a major clash, struck on 44 minutes from around 18 yards and on his weaker left-boot.
The Wits juniors product’s impact on Sunday, which included all the dangerous passes, runs and shot you want from a central midfielder, has left him a sure pick for Bafana’s next game.

With Dean Furman, Kamohelo Mokotjo also having displayed fine performances, the trio may very well become coach Ntseki’s first-choice midfield three.
