AFCON 2021 Qualifiers: Zambia host Zimbabwe in a must-win encounter

The Zambia national team will this evening play host to their neighbors Zimbabwe in a crucial Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Group H qualifier at the National Heroes Stadium.

The Copper Bullets are looking to put their disastrous outing in Blida last week behind them and get back to winning ways to put their campaign back on track. Coach Aggrey Chiyangi and his side know they need a win or their chances of bouncing back to the continent's prestigious showpiece will be very slim.

The two teams have met 50 times previously with Zambia having the upper hand winning 19 times to Zimbabwe's 9 while the other 22 games ended in draws.

Zimbabwe boss Joey Antipas is banking on the likes of striker and captain of the side Knowledge Musona. The RSC Anderlecht striker is not having game time at his club but the gaffer Joey Antipas believes it's only a matter of time before he delivers for the Warriors.

"It's just a matter of time before he delivers for us. [Musona] he could not be playing regularly for the first team at but he is training regularly and he is playing games regularly for the reserve side," he said.

"Although he has been criticized, even us as coaches have been criticized for starting him because of lack of game time, but we know that he can deliver and he retains the captaincy of the team."

Another player Zambia needs to be warry of is Lazarus Kambole's teammate at Kaizer Chiefs, Khama Billiat. The little magician is one of the most creative midfielders on the continent and the Chipolopolo defenders need to find a way of keeping him at bay as he is always going to have a go at them and give them problems.

For the Chipolopolo boys, Redbull Salzburg duo of striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu are expected to play a pivotal part in today's match. Enock Mwepu who is nicknamed the Computer will be the man to pull the strings in the middle of the park while Patson Daka will lead the attack.

With Algeria already break away from the rest of the park in the group Zambia and Zimbabwe will be fighting to take up second place in the group.

The two neighbors will go head to head at 18:00hrs at the National Heroes Stadium.
