Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to Tahith Chong's horror miss in defeat to Astana

Tahith Chong suffered an embarrassing miss in the 2-1 defeat to Astana with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defending and reassuring the youngster that such incidents are just part of ‘growing up’.

Solskjaer selected a largely inexperienced starting eleven as he handed debuts to three United youngsters and played seven teenagers.

Chong missed a glorious opportunity to extend United's lead when Luke Shaw put the ball on a plate for him just after half-time but the 19-year-old Dutchman skied his shot over the bar with the goalmouth gaping.

United suffered a double whammy as Astana immediately raced up the other end of the pitch and found an equalizer as Dmitri Shomko beat Lee Grant with a powerful drive from a tight angle.

Speaking after the match, Solskjaer was asked about the Chong miss but chose to defend the player, "No forward or striker should worry about missing chances. That’s about growing up, I think I did as well!"
