The 2019 COSAFA Men’s Under-20 Championship will get underway this morning at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Hosts Zambia takes on Botswana at 15:30 hours in their opening Group A fixture at the as they seek to win their first title in three years having last won it in South Africa in 2016.
Before Zambia can take to the pitch, Angola faces Seychelles in a Group C clash at 10h00 and Malawi battles the Comoros Islands at 12:45.
Zambia U20 head coach Osward Mutapa is seeking a COSAFA double having won the U17 Youth Championships in October.
Zambia has been the most successful of the sides down the years with 10 wins, followed by South Africa (eight) and Zimbabwe (six). Madagascar is the only other nation to pick up the title following their 2005 success. The tournament started in 1983 but South Africa only started participating 10 years later.
The tournament will run-up to the 14th of this month with Nkoloma Stadium and Sunset Stadium hosting the matches. Tickets for the games are pegged at K10 all round and K50 for VIP.
