Freddie Ljungberg responds to Aubameyang visiting the washroom during Arsenal loss

Arsenal manager Freddie Ljungberg has defended Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's decision to leave the field briefly during the 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion to visit the washroom.

The Gunners' poor run of form was extended as they are now nine games without a win in all competitions which is their worst run since 1977.

With time running out and Arsenal searching for an equalizer, Aubameyang the club’s top scorer and skipper suddenly disappeared down the tunnel.

He returned a few minutes later having missed an attacking corner with some fans criticizing his brief departure from the game.

Speaking in a press conference after the loss to Brighton, Ljungberg was asked if Aubameyang had left to visit the washroom, "I actually don’t know! He ran off and then came back two or three minutes later. It could have been, yes!"

On whether it was a bit odd to leave the pitch with Arsenal needing a goal so close to full-time, he added: "Well maybe you should ask him about that. But if you feel bad you feel bad, there’s nothing you can change."
